Element IIIa. Teachers align their instruction with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.
Element IIIb. Teachers know the content appropriate to their teaching specialty.
Element IIIc. Teachers recognize the interconnectedness of content areas/disciplines.
Element IIId. Teachers make instruction relevant to students.
When I am planning out lessons for my classroom I am consistantly making sure that I am not only making sure to include all relevent standards but I am also making sure that the lessons are engaging and rigorous. I engage in PBL's with my class as often as possible because I truly believe that making my students problem solvers is necessary. I also enjoy engaging in PBL's with my students because it allows for me to be able to show my students how all of the subjects that they are learning about are connected. Students should be engaged in reading, writing, and math througout the day across all subjects! I meet weekly with my grade level PLT to make sure that we are looking at data and adjusting our instruction as a grade level to meet all students needs.
SeeSaw is a learning tool that I use daily in classroom instruction. My students are often making videos to further explain their understanding and ability to apply concepts learned in class. I also enjoy using SeeSaw because it is a great tool for connecting parents to what we are learning daily in class! I am so passionate about SeeSaw that I decided to become a SeeSaw Ambassador this year. I have given several afterschool PD sessions to teachers at my school about how to best utilize SeeSaw in their classroom.
