Teaching Philosophy:
My favorite education quote comes from a Ted Talk by Rita Pearson:
"Teaching and learning should bring joy. How powerful would our world be if we had kids who were not afraid to take risks, who were not afraid to think, and who had a champion? Every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they
can possibly be"

I believe that each child is special, unique and developmentally different. I know that children possess many different learning styles and in my classroom I teach to meet these differing styles. Children are guided gently and reminded constantly of their talents through positive reinforcement. Children in my classroom who do not grasp concepts as quickly as others receive all the necessary attention and praise to ensure that they also reach their full potential. These children often need the most encouragement. Children must also feel free to take risks. All students need to be encouraged to ask questions and feel free to make mistakes in search for their answers. As a responsible teacher I must take the time to work with all children on an individualized basis so that they all receive the attention that they deserve.
I believe that everyone in the student’s environment is important to the learning process. Everyone at school and at home has a direct impact on the education of the child. It is essential that the teacher guide the learning at school and encourage the all important cooperation of the parents at home. I do everything in my power to work with school resources, students, and families to help each child reach his full potential. As a dedicated teacher I enlist all of the available resources to teach and nurture my students intellectually, socially, and emotionally, and thereby inspire my students to develop the habit of lifelong learning.
